NORDA Field Systems
Client name, brand and data have been changed for confidentiality. The design reflects the original project.
NORDA Field Systems plans, builds and maintains self-sufficient field bases for armed forces, international organisations and crisis response teams across Europe. Its scope covers every layer of a base: site preparation, modular accommodation, large shelters, energy, water, sanitation, catering and long-term service.
The sector comes with an unusual constraint. Confidentiality clauses mean the company cannot name its clients, show locations or publish past projects. Without a portfolio to lean on, the website had to build trust in other ways. It needed to explain a complex, end-to-end offer in plain terms, signal operational rigour and certified standards, and guide very different visitors, from procurement officers to subcontractors, to the right conversation.
With no clients or past projects to show, the site had to prove competence through how it communicates. The visual language borrows from the way field operations are documented: a technical overlay with coordinates and corner marks on the aerial film, monospaced labels and hairline grids. It signals precision without a single reference. A warm off-white palette and generous spacing keep it calm rather than militaristic, which matters for an audience that includes international organisations and crisis response teams.
The offer is explained the way a client thinks about a base, not as a list of products. Eight service cards cover each layer of infrastructure, and a three-stage cycle shows how a base is surveyed, built and then operated. Confidentiality, the biggest weakness, gets its own section and becomes a statement of standards backed by certifications. Discretion is presented as part of the service.
Different visitors need different conversations, so the contact area offers three paths instead of one generic form: a request for quote, a subcontractor partnership and a capability review. Each visitor states their intent up front, and the team receives better qualified enquiries. The site was built as a static website with Eleventy, so it is fast and has no database or CMS to maintain.
